We are moving from Blackboard to D2L Brightspace!
Beginning Summer 2026, the school will transition from Blackboard to D2L Brightspace as our learning management system.
All courses will be delivered in Brightspace starting May 10. Blackboard will remain available in read-only format through June 30. No new courses will be created in Blackboard after this transition.

Brightspace provides a more modern, accessible, and student-centered learning environment. This transition supports improved teaching tools, stronger engagement, and long-term sustainability. It also positions the seminary to support future growth in online and hybrid learning.

Timeline
January - March
Technical Implementation: IT staff working with D2L to set up and integrate institutional systems with the LMS. Collaboration with the Registrar’s Office and the Dean’s Office is also underway to ensure Brightspace is structured with permissions and organizational levels that support academic divisions and departments.
Academic Technology Staff Training: Internal support teams are participating in in-depth training to ensure they are fully prepared to assist faculty and students throughout the transition.
Development of Faculty Resources: Asynchronous materials and guides are being created to help faculty begin building and transitioning their courses into Brightspace.
March - April
Faculty Training: Live and asynchronous training opportunities will be provided to help instructors learn Brightspace and prepare their courses for delivery in the new LMS.
Student Transition Resources: Asynchronous guides and support materials are being developed to help students become familiar with Brightspace and navigate their courses confidently.
Instructional Design Support: Instructional design assistance will be available to faculty as they build and transition their courses into Brightspace.
April - May
Final Course Preparation:
Faculty complete course builds in Brightspace, finalize gradebooks, and confirm course readiness. System integrations and permissions are validated to ensure a smooth start to the term.
System Launch (Go-Live):
Brightspace becomes the official learning management system for all active courses beginning Summer 2026. Blackboard transitions to read-only access for archival purposes.
