Field Education at Wesley DC:
Practice in Ministry and Mission
Practice of Mission and Ministry (PM&M) at Wesley Theological Seminary integrates theological study with hands-on ministry either during a yearlong or two consecutive full-time summer, supervised placements in congregations or community organizations across the Washington, D.C. area or wherever students reside. Required for M. Div. students, PM&M pairs on-site ministry work with faculty-led theological and leadership reflection helping students develop practical skills, vocational clarity, and confidence for leadership.
Distinctively relational, PM&M is built on mutual partnership: students learn through real ministry, and partner sites gain engaged leaders-in-training shaped by Wesley’s commitments to justice, formation, and community impact.
